Election: Voting Starts Early In Bauchi North Amidst Large Turnout

Voting has begun early amid impressive voter turnout in Bauchi North in the Governorship and State Assembly election.

The Bauchi North zone comprises Giade, Gamawa, Itas Gadau, Jamare Katagum, Shira and zaki Local Government Areas.

Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), who monitored the exercise reports that electoral officials and materials arrived at most of the polling units at about 7:05 am, amid tight security.

Accreditation and voting also commenced at about 7:50 as voters waited patiently on queues to exerchise their franchise in most areas visited.

At Yayani Primary School PU 002 in  Zaki, voting commenced at about 8:30 am amid a large voter turnout.

Also, voting began at about 8:37am at various polling units visited in Jama’are.

They include: Nadaduwa PU 003; Zango Abdulkadir Primary School PU  001, Zango Abdulkadir Primary School PU 004 and Tudun Mallam Dauda PU 006.

The exercise which started at about 8:30 am is being conducted smoothly at Unguwar Mati PU 003 and Kofar Fada, Azare polling unit in Itas Gadau and Katagum LGAs.

However, the exercise commenced late in some polling units in Shira and Gamawa due to delay in the distribution of election materials.

NAN reports that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) was operating free of glitches in most areas visited. (NAN)
