ormer Ekiti State Governor, Chief Segun Oni, and some his top supporters may be expelled from the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the suit filed by Oni against the incumbent, Dr Kayode Fayemi challenging Fayemi’s eligibility to stand as the standard bearer of the party in the July 14, 2018 governorship election in the state.

This is just as the tension generated by the suit threatens to tear the party apart in the state.

Sources told our correspondent that when Fayemi met with the members of the State Working Committee of the APC at the weekend, he told them that as long as Muhammadu Buhari remains the president of Nigeria, he is sure of retaining his position.

He also told members of the SWC that they should start work on how to get Oni and his supporters expelled from the party as soon as possible.

He also decried the posture of some members of the Oni group, saying they must all be punished for anti-party activities.

Meanwhile, as supporters of both gladiators wait for Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti to deliver judgment on the matter, threats, harassment and intimidation of opponents have become the order of the day.

As usual, members of the various drivers unions and commercial motorbike operators are being mobilised to harass known opponents.

Security agencies have beefed up their surveillance around Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
