Edo 2020: Philip Shaibu’s Pact With Obaseki Vs Esan Agenda

Have we [Esans], really asked ourselves what Philip Shaibu really wants?

He has invested so much in the rebellion against his people and his political foster father, Oshiomhole. In fact, there are many who believed that he is the brain behind the Torgbarians, and the one driving the movement not Obaseki.

Who and what do they think Shaibu is fighting for? To be Deputy Governor?

Well, Oshhiomhole has already given him that!

He wouldn’t betray Oshiomhole for that. Does he want to be Minister or Senator? If that’s were the case, he wouldn’t betray Oshiomhole for that, as Oshiomhole is in a better position to help him realize these aspirations.

Then what? Isn’t that Obvious?? He thinks he needs a sitting governor from Edo South [majority voting block], to make him a Governor!

*Yes! he wants to be Governor and broached the matter with Oshiomhole first, and it was that same Oshiomhole, who admonished him to discard that ambition. It will be Esan turn after Obaseki, says Oshiomhole more than two years ago!*

*Shaibu then turned to Obaseki, brainwashed him and recruited him against Oshiomhole. Yeah, you heard right! It was Philip Shaibu who recruited Obaseki, and not the other way round.*

Everything about Obaseki fighting Oshiomhole revolve around Shaibu’s ambition. It is only being fueled by the natural gene of betrayal that flows in Obaseki’s veins!

Do you know why majority of the Owan People and Owan Leaders, beat a retreat from Supporting Obaseki??

It is no secret that Obaseki had a clandestine meeting with Edo north people in June last year. Most of the Edo north people present at that meeting were Philip Shaibu’s lackeys. It is at that meeting that Obaseki signed a pact with Shiabu, that he will handover to him in 2024. One man with conscience-Nurudeem Oshiobugie raised the issue of Esan’s turn after Obaseki.

*It was dismissed by Obaseki himself who clearly stated that the Esans are playing spiteful politics, and nobody will make them benefit from such politics!*

Unfortunately for them, they allowed some Owan people attend the pact signing. The Owan people felt aggrieved and leaked the pact. Owan is not supporting Obaseki because, they believed if at all the governorship is coming to Edo North, it should be an Owan person.

*What Ogbeide is saying is that, Esan People should not be Naive! If they believed that Obaseki will win, they should consider making a concrete pact with Obaseki. The one he will be forced to keep, seeing that, the man is a pathological promise breaker.*

*It is not too late for our “Esan agendalists” to beat a retreat, and join other deep thinking Esans in the move to eject Obaseki. Yes! I, know they genuinely have couple of things agains Oshiomhole, but, “Politics is always about interest! You should always fight for what you want, not fight against what you hate!”*

*”In Politics, you do not cut your nose to spite your face”. According to Leon Brown,” Every day you must unlearn the ways that hold you back. You must rid yourself of negativity, so you can learn to fly.”*

The focus should be how to get an Esan man to Osadebey’s House, not how to bring Oshiomhole from Abuja to Iyamoh. You all must be aware that I have since taken my own advise.

Assuming without conceding, that, Obaseki wins his second term, do you think Philip Shaibu will give up his ambition for an Esan man??

If Obaseki decides to honour the more concrete pact with Shaibu who has invested so much in him, how do you fight them? Do not be deceived, in politics nobody says *”e don do me”.* If Shaibu [given the above scenario], is backed later by Obaseki, how do you think the senatorial zones will align? Do you think Edo South will help out??

Do you think Edo North will reject Shaibu’s candidacy? I don’t want to go into the nuances of the correct answers, to these salient posers but suffice to say that, it will be the greatest political quandary for Edo Central Senatorial District!

I am all for Edo Central, after Edo South, but, trying to use *”apian way”* with Obaseki will not realized this.

*There is more certainty of Esan getting the governorship after Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s tenure, than after Obaseki’s.*

*The mental calculations are quite simple: Working your political destiny around a politically structureless, unstable and renown betrayal, and reneger of promises, may end with getting nothing for the next 16 years!*

Please, by this piece, I don’t pretend that I know more than anybody, especially Esan people who have produced many professors in political science.

I also do not fear the insults, some persons may pour or be tempted to pour on my person.

All I ask is that, after attacking the messager, do well to dissect the message and reflect deeply on it!

Carl Jung said, *”Your vision will become clear, only when you can look into your own heart”*

*”Who looks outside dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”*

Take these words of Plutarch into heart, as you digest this piece; *“Know how to listen, and you will profit even from those who talk badly!”*
