Supporters of former Edo state Governor Adams Oshiomhole, on Saturday evening attacked Governor Godwin Obaseki, At Oshiomhole’s residence, in Iyamoh, Edo state.
Our correspondent gathered that the attackers destroyed three vehicles in the governor’s convoy but the governor and Oba Akiolu of Lagos, who was in the company of the Governor were however unhurt.
Obaseki and Akiolu, who were guests at the convocation ceremony of Edo State University Iyamoh were said to have gone to Oshiomhole’s residence after the convocation ceremony but were attacked by the former governor’s supporters.
Security operatives were said to have however contained the attack but with no arrests made.
There has been serious political fued between Oshiomhole and Obaseki over 2020 Governorship elections with those in support of the former governor calling for the withdrawal of support by the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) for the incumbent governor.
