Gov. Makinde Probes Ex-Gov Ajimobi’s N7 Billion Ibadan-Iseyin Road Contract

How did a contractor, Olaniran Trade and Engineering Limited, secure the job of rehabilitating the Ibadan-Iseyin Road for the sum of N7 billion without evidence of technical competence or experience in road construction?

Also, why is the company not having any traceable address or location as its office? These are some of the questions former Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, may have to answer soon regarding the award of the contract and others in the twilight of his administration.

Checks by our correspondent showed that the manner the said contractors and some others were mobilised before Ajimobi left office on May 29, this year, is part of the questions the current administration of Governor Seyi Makinde may eventually ask his predecessor.

Within Ibadan City, road projects such as Gate-Iwo Road, Idi Ape-Bashorun-Oju Irin Road, Gate-Airport Road among others, are being queries regrading the costs of the projects.

When contacted on the phone for his response, the Special Adviser, Media to Ajimobi, Mr Bolaji Tunji, said the former governor had appropriately explained the issues raised.

He added that those who were Ajimobi’s Commissioners for Works and Information might be in a better position to talk on the issues.

When contacted, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Makinde, Mr Taiwo Adisa, said the contract and others were parts of what a review committee set up by the governor was assessing.

” It is when the overhaul of the contracts and the entire financial transactions that took place under the former administration has been completed and report submitted to Mr Governor that decisions will be taken on it and others,” he said.
