The camps of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been hit by palpable tension, as the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal s set to deliver judgment on last year’s election in the state on Friday.

Checks by our correspondent showed that despite the widespread condemnation that greeted the conduct of the poll that eventually gave victory to the APC, leaders and members of the PDP are also not at easy going by recent developments in the judiciary.

Sources in the PDP say not being the final arbiter on the matter, whatever the tribunal says is just the beginning of a long judicial battle.

The matter will go through the Appeal Court and finally decided at the Supreme Court.

“Moreover, the same condemnation greeted the Ekiti State election held few months before ours and what is the judgment by the tribunal? Oftentimes, members of the tribunal are compromised by those in power. Recall that the first tribunal set up to hear our matter was dissolved after complaints by some APC leaders that members were not doing their bidding.

” Yes, leaders of the APC, including President Muhammadu Buhari openly said that they took Osun State by remote control, but we are ready to go the whole hog in getting our mandate restored to us,” Ibrahim Sarafa, a PDP stalwart said.

In the APC, though Gboyega Oyetola, its candidate in the poll, was declared winner and inaugurated as governor, it has been like a bird perching on a line and thereby having no rest.

Oyetola has only appointed five or so aides since last November when he came to office.

Three of the aides were appointed few weeks ago.

The reason, it was gathered, is the uncertainty over his electoral victory and the huge debts left by his predecessor, Rauf Aregbesola.
